Travelling with Finchys Australia is a unique snapshot of Australian places, people and characters. Myself (Finchy) and my wife Miss Linda have worked, travelled and lived in every state and Territory that makes up this amazing country Australia.
Whether it be on motorcycles, cars, boats, buses, trains or even hitchhiking we have spent our lives travelling and absorbing everything Australia has to offer. Miss Linda was born with a camera in her hand (probably a Pentax) and I was born with an incurable desire to see what is around the next corner and share the yarns and stories that arise from such a lifestyle.
Our Australian journey include adventures such as two years living on, working and travelling the length of the mighty Murray River in an old traditional wooden boat called ‘Huck Finn’. Or, many journey’s throughout Australia on my Harley Davidson with my dog, TD, on the tank. Or the fact we have a combined total of 77 Nullarbor crossings, including on motorcycles, cars, as a tour guide with Nullarbor Traveller, Miss Linda working on the Indian Pacific or driving across in ‘Fork the Bus’.
We have both worked on remote farms and stations or in capital cities, regional centres and in some of the most isolated mines and drilling rigs you will find anywhere on earth. All the time experiencing the huge variety, stunning locations and unique characters most people don’t get to experience.
Finchys Australia brings these travels, adventures and misadventures to life
These examples are just the tip of the iceberg and some of the unique ways in which we have experienced travelling Australia. Finchys Australia brings these travels, adventures and misadventures to life with stories and images that span over 35 years and include the nomadic lifestyle we still live today. We both feel that our Australian travels and stories need to be shared. Why? because they are to good not to!
Finchys Australia is not only an informative guide to travelling Australia and the many ways you can experience it, it is the real and sometimes hilarious story of a country, its people and places as seen through the eyes of two people who just can’t get enough of travelling Australia and everything it has to offer.
